BENGALURU: A robber, posing as a food delivery agent, entered a house when an aged woman was alone, tied her up, brutally attacked her and decamped with Rs 8 lakh cah in Banashankari area on Sunday night.
The injured woman, Kanakapushpa, and her son, Rahul, live in the house. The accused, Madivala, a former driver of the woman’s son Rahul, allegedly conspired with three others to carry out the robbery.
Madivala had been working as a driver for Rahul for four months, but was abruptly terminated on Sunday morning after clearing his salary dues.
Enraged by his dismissal, Madivala and his accomplices waited for Rahul to leave the house and then rang the doorbell, pretending to be food delivery agents. When Kanakapushpa opened the door, they pushed her inside, tied her hands and legs, and stabbed her in the neck with a knife.
The accused then stole Rs 8 lakh in cash and fled the scene. Kanakapushpa is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. A case has been registered at the Banashankari police station. The police are investigating the incident and searching for the accused.
