Two road works were completed in Turvihal, allegedly without calling for tenders

RAICHUR: Public Works Department (PWD) officials in Raichur have been accused of flouting norms under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements (KTPP) Act by completing two roads works in Turvihal even before calling for e-tenders. The road works were completed at a cost of Rs 1.6 crore.

The CM is scheduled to visit Turvihal on February 23.

Turvihal is the hometown of Maski Congress MLA Basanagouda Turvihal and it is alleged that the road works were awarded to a contractor under political pressure. Other contractors are now questioning how the contractor was picked for the road works in violation of norms and have demanded a detailed inquiry.

The contractors pointed out that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to visit Turvihal on February 23 to attend a mass marriage ceremony and allege that the road works were completed in a hurry ahead of the CM’s visit.
