BENGALURU: Holenarsipur MLA H D Revanna was on Monday granted bail by the special court for elected representatives in the sexual harassment case filed in Holenarsipur wherein he was named the first accused and his son Prajwal Revanna the second accused.

Revanna was asked to furnish a bond for Rs 5 lakh along with a surety. Earlier in the day, the special investigation team, which is probing the case, had strongly opposed the grant of bail.

A P Ranganath, one of Revanna’s lawyers, briefing the media on Monday.

“The SIT was castigated for attempting to add charges after assuring the court that it will no do so. This is a victory for us. Senior lawyer C V Nagesh argued for bail”, said one of Revanna’s lawyers, A P Ranganath.

Meanwhile, the SIT has approached the high court against the bail granted to Revanna in the and sought its cancellation. The court is yet to list the case for hearing.

Reacting to this, advocate Ranganath said it is a conspiracy by the government. “This is an attempt to fix Revanna and we will fight it legally. The SIT appeal may even be rejected or they may file a B-report”, he said.
