MYSURU: In yet another twist to the ongoing Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) controversy, retired Justice P N Desai, who is heading a one-man committee probing the alleged scam, has been debarred for a period of three years by the central government. The order, issued on November 7 this year, was issued based on a recommendation by the Supreme Court.

The committee had been set up the the state government and after he has been debarred, it means he cannot work in any committee for a period of three years, as per the rules. The Centre had earlier named Desai to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), but he had not joined the tribunal.

A copy of the central government order was released by social activist Snehamayi Krishna, who has filed complaints against the MUDA allotment of 14 sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi B M in lieu of acquired land. He has demanded that Desai should be removed from the post of chairman of the committee probing the MUDA case and has written to the state chief secretary.

In his letter, Snehamayi Krishna pointed out that Desai cannot be appointed to any independent, legislative or regulatory committee for three years and said that his appointment as committee chairman should be withdrawn immediately. he also demanded that all records with the retired judge should be handed over to the government and noted that he would write to the central government about his appointment despite the order debarring him.
