Retired army man arrested for online comments on CM

BENGALURU: A 40-year-old man, identified as Vasanth Kumar from Sakleshpur, was arrested by the City Cyber cell for allegedly abusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on social media.

Vasanth Kumar, a retired soldier and farmer, had posted controversial message on a Facebook page called ‘Hanuma Bhakta’ after the CM asked President Droupadi Murmu if she knew Kannada at a recent event at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in Mysuru.

Vasanth Kumar’s post read, “You ask if President Droupadi Murmu knows Kannada, but do you know Odia?” He had ended the post with a vulgar abuse. The police have taken Vasant Kumar into custody and are questioning him.
