BENGALURU: A popular restaurant in Jalahalli near near HMT, Kadamba Gardenia, received an anonymous letter on Monday threatening a bomb blast.

The Jalahalli police immediately rushed to the spot with the bomb disposal and dog squads and conducted a thorough check. The one-page letter reached the restaurant by post on Monday morning and a similar letter was received by the Jalahalli police half an hour before the ‘blast’ was to take place.

After a thorough check in and around the hotel, the police did not find any kind of explosives and declared it a hoax.

‘I am the one who planted the bomb at The  Rameswaram Cafe and shouted at the police. I am the one who planted the bomb in this hotel too’, the letter read. The letter addressed the police was in abusive language.

At that time, a baby shower programme was going on at the hotel. When the police alerted the guests and staff about the threat, they all ran out of the hall. The guests were a little disappointed after the bomb hoax.

The pregnant woman, who was prepared for her baby shower said, “I was very happy and enjoying the baby shower programme. The police came and told us that there was a bomb and sent us out. Not even half the programme is completed by then. We are waiting for a long time for the police call. We were excited about the programme, but we are a little upset because we could not enjoy it”.

The owner of the restaurant said, “The police arrived at 11.30 am and said they had received a bomb threat at this hotel and asked to us to send all costumers outside. Then, they checked with the bomb squad and dog squad. They did not say much about the message that they received. They continued their checks and we were cooperated to them”.
