BENGALURU: Months after several localities witnessed flooding during the last monsoon season in the city, the residents of Sai Layout face continue to face several problems after the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) dug up 10-foot-deep holes for development work to avoid flooding in the locality.

The residents of Sai Layout face several issues, including difficulty getting outside the house because of the huge pits dug in front of their houses. They are worried that if there is no power supply at night, it will be dangerous for the residents as there are no safety measures.

The Sai Layout residents face several problems due to BBMP and BDA’s development work.

The residents of the layout complained that the officials dug the huge pits, but work has come to a standstill after that. They have notified the authorities concerned, but there has been no response. For the past 15 days, the residents are struggling without water and electricity supply.

Bindu Pillai, a resident of Sai Layout.

“The officials and local MLA said that they will complete the work before the next rainy season. They dug a pit in front of our house, and there has been no progress in the work for the past 15 days. The water does not drain out and flooding occurs when the rajakaluve overflows. They said they would close the pit soon after digging it, but it has been 15 days and there has been no progress. Because of this, we are facing water and electricity problems. We’re trespassing on other people’s land and parked our vehicles elsewhere”, said Bindu pillai, a Sai Layout resident.
