About 700 children of the residential school performed padapuja for their parents.

SHIVAMOGGA: On the first day of the new year, while several families thronged temples across the state, students of a residential school in the taluk ushered in the New Year with a unique ceremony of washing the feet of their parents.

About 700 students of the Sri Ramakrishna Gurukul in Anupinakatte in Shivamogga taluk conducted ‘padapuja’ for the parents on Monday. The event was organised to inculcate cultural values among the children, according to the school authorities.

Children from various parts of the state are studying in the residential school and the ‘padapuja’ ceremony was conducted in the presence of teachers and the math head with traditional fanfare.
