Pavithra Gowda and Darshan being led away after they were handed to police custody for five days.

BENGALURU: An ACCM court on Saturday handed over 13 of the accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, including the prime accused Pavithra Gowda and actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, to five days in police custody.

They include Accused No. 1 Pavithra Gowda, A2 Darshan, A3 Pavan, A4 Raghavendra, A5 Nandish, A6 Jagadish, A7 Anukumar, A10 Vinay, A11 Nagaraj, A12 Lakshman, A13 Deepak, A14 Pradosh and A16 Nikhil. When they were produced before the court, Pavithra Gowda broke down in tears. When the judge asked her if the police had given her any trouble, she replied in the negative.

Earlier, the prosecution had sought nine days’ custody of the accused. Special Public Prosecutor Prasannakumar told the court that the police had seized 10 mobile phones from the accused and recovery of data. He also told the court that Rs 30 lakh had been seized from the accused and presented a status report on the investigation to the court in a sealed envelope.

Anil Babu, the lawyer for Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, told the court that two of the accused, Nandish and Deepak, had been administered electric shocks. He also said that the legal team was not being allowed to meet Pavithra Gowda though she had been questioned for six days and added that no remand application had been filed.
