BENAGLURU: Veteran ophthalmologist and founder of Narayana Nethralaya Multi Specialty Hospital, Dr Bhujang Shetty, is no more. Dr Bhujang Shetty passed away at the age of 69 on Friday after cardiac arrest at home on Friday night.
The family members immediately rushed him to a private hospital for treatment, but he breathed his last without responding for the treatment.
Dr Bhujanga Shetty was famous for his service. He was started his practice in a small clinic as an ophthalmologist after completing his MBBS graduation and then shifted to Rajajinagar in 1993. He founded the popular Narayana Nethralaya Multi-Specialty hospital in Bengaluru, popularaly known as Narayana Netralaya.
The body kept in a emergency unit. Chief Minister-designate Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar expressed deep condolences over Dr Bhujang Shetty’s death.
Sad to know that noted opthalmologist Dr Bhujanga Shetty, chairman Narayana Nethralaya has passed away in Bengaluru.
He had helped lakhs of people to gain vision and was light to their families.

Deputy Chief Minister-designate and KPCC president D K Sivakumar said, “Bhujang Shetty’s service in the field of health is immense. He is among the greatest doctors that the state has ever seen. He was a visionary doctor who created health awareness among the people. As the head of Narayana Nethralaya, Bhujang Shetty played an important role in raising this institution to new heighs. They have been providing services to the public through using advanced technology”.
Dr Bhujang Shetty gave light to the lives of millions and he had special interest in eye donation concept. Late actors Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar donated their eyes on his advice. They gave sight to four people through their eyes. He received state award in 2010 for his service and contributions to health sectors.
