TEZPUR: Amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that the whole world should unite against terrorism and adequate measures should be taken so that innocent civilians are not affected.
Speaking to reporters in Tezpur, Rajnath Singh said, “The whole world should unite against terrorism. Care should be taken so that innocent people do not get affected because of it.”
During his visit to the Northeastern state, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh interacted with Armed Forces personnel deployed in the region during ‘Barakhana’ organised in Tezpur.
Rajnath Singh reached Tezpur in Assam ahead of his visit to Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate Dussehra with troops and perform Shastra Puja with them.
Earlier today Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial telephonic conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan to address the escalating situation between Israel and Hamas.
The leaders shared their concerns over terrorism and the loss of civilian lives in the war. Both leaders underscored the need for concerted efforts to achieve an early resolution to the security and humanitarian challenges that have arisen as a result of the war.
As the war entered its 17th day, Israel’s military ramped up its aerial offensive against Hamas. At least 436 people were killed in overnight strikes in Gaza, CNN quoted the Palestinian health ministry.
At the Cairo Peace Summit, held two days back, Jordan’s King Abdullah said that the forced or internal displacement of Palestinians would be a war crime. As many as 1,400 Israelis have died in the onslaught of the Hamas terror organisation. More than 5,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7, CNN quoted Palestinian health officials as saying. (ANI)
