BENGALURU: Rajkumar Road, a major road in Bengaluru connecting 23 districts, is closed for heavy vehicles due to white-topping work, affecting KSRTC, BMTC, and private buses. Traffic police have diverted vehicles to alternative routes.

The road closure is expected to cause traffic issues in Rajajinagar and Malleswaram areas for the next three months.

The stretch from Navarang signal to Orion Mall is blocked with barricades, and only two-wheelers and cars can pass through the LuLu Mall Junction to Navarang signal. KSRTC, BMTC, and private buses can take the underpass near LuLu Mall Junction to reach Tumkur Road via Bashyam Circle and West of Chord Road.

Traffic congestion is building up near LuLu Mall junction as drivers are unaware of the alternative routes. Traffic police are present on the ground, directing vehicles to take alternative routes.

Traffic Diversion:

From Majestic to Tumkur Road:

Vehicles can take the LuLu Mall underpass, turn left at Bashyam Circle, and then take the West of Chord Road to reach Tumkur Road.

From Majestic to Rajajinagar:

Two-wheelers and cars can take the Navarang signal left turn, proceed to 19th Main Road, and then take the Modi Hospital bridge right turn.

Krishnamurthi, a bike rider, said, “It is okay if they are doing white-topping, but at least they should leave space to go. The Palike dug up the roads. What to do with this situation?”

Ramakrishnappa, an auto driver, said there is no place to take a U-turn. “Traffic congestion increased after white-topping work started”, he said. Another bike rider, Raju, said, “Dug-up roads in Bengaluru are very common. We need to take alternative roads and no one knows when white-topping work will be completed”.
