CHENNAI: Actor Rajinikanth on Monday described DMK leader Durai Murugan as his long-time friend, adding that whatever Murugan says does not bother him in any way.
Rajinikanth on Monday morning departed for Vijayawada from Chennai airport for shoot for his upcoming movie ‘Vettaiyan’ which is set to hit the theatres on October 10, this year.
At the airport, Rajinikanth spoke with the media and said that his friendship with Murugan will always continue and whatever he says is not an issue.”Durai Murugan is my long-time friend. Whatever he says is not an issue, our friendship will always continue,” told Rajinikanth to reporters.
Meanwhile, in response, DMK Minister Murugan on Wednesday said, “I am also saying the same thing what Rajinikanth have said. No one should use our jokes as enmity. We always be friends like how we used to be.”
This comes after a war of words broke between DMK Minister Murugan and Rajinikanth.
Earlier, the actor had said, “One thing amazes me. Handling new students in the school won’t be an issue but it is not a simple thing to manage old students (senior leaders). Here (in DMK) we have many old students. That too not normal students. All are extraordinary old students. All these old students are rank holders and saying they won’t leave the class… Especially we have Durai Murugan…We can’t say anything. Stalin sir, hats off to you for handling everything.”
Murugan hit back at veteran actor over his comments on the senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders and said young actors are losing opportunities because of old actors who continue to act even after “losing teeth.”
Amid the controversy, DMK Youth and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said on August 25 that youth are ready to join their party.
“Youths are ready and willing to come to our side. We only have to give space to them and hold their hands to guide them. Superstar Rajinikanth’s speech got huge applause. You all would have seen that speech.” (ANI)
