BENGALURU: Popular Big Boss Kannada contestant Rajath Kishan has been sentenced to 14 days of judicial custody by the 24th ACMM Court in connection with the viral video featuring them holding machete was shared on the internet, while Vinay Gowda received relief with a Rs 500 fine.
Vinay expressed sadness over Rajath’s imprisonment. The warrant against Vinay was recalled after he filed an application, and he apologised to the court with his lawyer, promising cooperation in future proceedings. Therefore, the court imposed a fine of Rs 500 on Vinay.
Vinay Gowda stated, “I had filed an application, and the warrant was recalled. I wasn’t supposed to receive a warrant. I visited the police station last evening, and my lawyer told me to appear before court today, so I came with them.”
He added that he’s not angry with Rajath and that they must respect the court’s orders.
The controversy began when Vinay Gowda and Rajath Kishan, were arrested under the Arms Act for allegedly brandishing a machete in a video shoot for reels. They were later granted conditional bail but faced legal consequences again when a non-bailable warrant was issued against them for violating bail conditions.
An FIR was registered at Basaveshwar Nagar Police Station after the video went viral.
According to the police, holding weapons in public and filming such content is an offense under the Arms Act and can incite fear among the public.
The duo was arrested under the Arms Act, 1959, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, following a complaint.
