BENGALURU: Election and Excise officials raided the house of actor Amulya in Rajarajeshwari Nagar early on Thursday and seized some liquor stocks. The officials had sent out all the occupants of the house one by one and some BJP workers had started gathering on getting information about the raid.
Later, BJP leader Ramachandra alleged that the state government was misusing administrative machinery. “We have been stopping Congress workers from distributing money to voters and that is why this raid. The RO was constantly getting calls to put us in jail for at least two days”, he claimed.
“They thought they will find something big, but all they found was some liquor which I had got for my grandchildrens’ birthday. We hadn’t planned any grand celebration as it is election time. The officials took my signature on a document which recorded the seizure”, Ramachandra added.
Meanwhile, Income Tax Department officials raided close aides of Deputy CM D K Shivakumar and seized crores of rupees in cash apart from other documents in Bengalur South Assembly constituency. Those raided include S Gangadhar, former BBMP corporator, at Konanakunte Cross, Sujay, the personal assistant of D K Suresh, K B L Sridhar, Gottigere block Congress president, Babu, Anjanapura ward president, Chandru, a Congress worker and Harish Puttappa, personal assistant to K B L Sridhar. All those raided have also been issued notices to present themselves for inquiry.
In Basavanagudi, the I-T officials raided a businessman and seized Rs 6.5 crore in cash and 22 kg of gold which were kept in a secret room. The Income Tax officials also raided BJP leader Govindappa at Madavara in Nelamangala and seized Rs 5 crore in cash and 7 kg of gold. Govindappa was instrumental in patching up the rift between Yelahanka MLA S R Vishwanath and Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha candidate Dr K Sudhakar.
