BENGALURU: A court has sentenced Rahul Tonse a.k.a. Rahul Shetty to six months imprisonment and fined him Rs 61.50 lakh for cheating actress Sanjjanaa Galrani. The court’s 33rd ACJM judge, PS Santosh Kumar, has announced that Rahul is to pay the fine amount to Sanjjanaa.
The court has ordered Rahul to pay the fine amount of Rs 61.50 lakh, deducting Rs 10,000 as court fees, to Sanjjanaa. If he pays the fine within the stipulated time, his six-month sentence will be waived. Otherwise, he will have to serve the sentence and pay the fine.
Rahul Thonse, who was managing director of casinos in Goa and Colombo in Sri Lanka, had promised Sanjjanaa high returns on investments. Believing him, Sanjana had invested Rs 45 lakh in 2018-19, but Rahul cheated her. Later, even after demanding to return of the invested money many times, Rahul had given two cheques, which bounced.
Following this, Sanjjanaa filed a complaint at the Indiranagar police station. The police investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against Rahul.
