CHIKKAMAGALUR: Former deputy CM and BJP leader R Ashoka is celebrating his birthday at a resort near Kaimara here. Ashoka and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai arrived at the resort on Friday night.
Today, MLAs Muniraju and V Sunil Kumar and others are expected to join them at the resort where they will relax before heading back to Bengaluru for the legislature party meeting to pick the Opposition leader. Basavaraj Bommai said Ashoka has been celebrating his birthday in Chikkamagalur for the last six years.
To a question on whether there will be political discussions in Chikkamagalur, he denied it and said they are here for Ashoka birthday. “If we had to discuss politics, we could have done it in Bengaluru”, he remarked.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday on the legislature party meeting, Basavaraj Bommai said the choice of Opposition leader will be made known on Sunday evening.
Regarding the budget session starting from July 4, he said, “In the one-and-half months the new government has been in power, they have taken some decisions and the cabinet too has taken certain decisions. They have created confusion regarding their guarantees. We will discuss all these issues”.
