Quarry worker crushed to death between rocks in Malur village, another injured

KOLAR: A stone quarry worker, who was trapped between rocks while cutting them near the Patalamma temple at Hunasikote in Malur taluk on Tuesday, was found dead on Wednesday. The body was pulled out after a five-hour operation and the deceased was identified as Manjunath.

Another worker, identified as Naveen, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Kolar. They were working at a quarry belonging to one Anjinappa when the mishap occurred.

According to the police sources, Anjinappa had got permission for traditional methods of quarrying, but had been using heavy equipment like excavators and air compressors for quarrying activity. The Masti police visited the spot and have registered a case.
