RAMANAGARA: A quack ‘doctor’ has been arrested following the death of a 6-month-old child, allegedly due to an overdose of steroids, and the house from where he was operating his clinic has been sealed.
The arrested Mohammed Saifullah had claimed to be a compounder and was running his clinic under the name of Al-Khair Foundation at his house on Balgiri Main Road in Ramanagara. On Wednesday, 6-month-old Sharanya had died after he allegedly administered steroids to treat a lump in the child’s leg.
After the parents lodged a complaint with the police, the district health authorities found that Saifullah had been runnng the clinic without any valid licence and was not even a doctor. District Health Officer Dr Niranjan said, “He had not got any licence from us and we believe that he is a fake doctor. Prima facie, he seems to be a pharmacist and he administered some steroid to the child”.
Further, the DHO said, “Saifullah did not have any certificates, but was running the clinic under the name of a foundation. We have registered a case against him and sealed the clinic. We have also sent the body of the child for post-mortem examination. Going ahead, we will conduct checks on such fake doctors”.
