BENGALURU: A private company in Bengaluru has sparked outrage among Kannadigas by posting an online advertisement for a HR position that essentially said ‘Kannadigas need not apply’.
The company, SkillSonics India Pvt Ltd, based in JP Nagar, posted the advertisement on Naukri.Com stating that they prioritise non-Kannada-speaking candidates for an HR position.
The ad advertisement been met with widespread criticism on social media, with many calling out the company for discriminating against locals. The incident sparked a backlash, with many demanding action against the company.
The company has since apologized, stating that the advertisement was a mistake made by their Kolkata office and that they have withdrawn the job posting. “We apologise for the mistake and assure you that it won’t happen again. We will ensure that Kannada is given primacy,” the company representatives said in a statement.
