MANGALURU: A man was arrested after he murdered a woman at Kampa in Mundur of Puttur taluk on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Jayashree (23). The accused Umesh is a resident of Kanakamajalu in Sullia taluk.
Jayashree was alone at home as her mother had gone to the farm for work. Umesh is her relative and he had proposed his love to her many times. However, she had rejected his proposal and had distanced herself from him.
Angered by this, he stabbed her to death when she was alone at home. She was immediately taken to the Puttur Government Hospital, but she had died.
A case has been registered at the Puttur Rural Police Station and Umesh has been arrested. Further investigation is under way.
