BENGALURU: A 17-year-old girl was found dead at her house at Manorayanapalya in Hebbal, allegedly by hanging herself. The incident occurred around 3 pm on Thursday when her PUC results were announced.

The girl’s mother, Asha, initially told police that Tanushree had failed in her exams and was upset, leading to her suicide. However, relatives suspect foul play, pointing out that Asha delayed informing the police for over eight hours. They claimed that Asha, along with some young men, took down the body and didn’t inform the police immediately.

The family members allege that Asha had an illicit relationship with a man, and Tanushree had been opposing it. They claimed that Asha had previously quarrelled with Tanushree over this issue and may have pushed her to end her life. The family is now demanding an investigation into Asha’s actions.

Tanushree’s cousin brother, Dhanush, said, “My sister was mentally strong and wouldn’t have committed suicide. We suspect that the mother, Asha, is involved in her death. Her father passed away two years ago, and Asha has been having an affair. They often quarrelled over this, and I believe Asha killed her”.

The police were yet to register a case and visit the scene, sparking outrage among relatives. The body was taken to Ambedkar Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
