BENGALURU: The first ever two-day mega post-graduation education expo, ‘Vidya Mandira-2022’, hosted by Public TV at the Government Primary School Ground in Malleswaram, received an overwhelming response from students and educational institutions, on the inaugural day on Saturday.
Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan inaugurated the ‘Vidhya Mandir’ mega expo in the presence of Public TV chairman H R Ranganath, BGS Institute MD Prakashnath Swamiji, Reva University Pro-Chancellor Umesh S Raju, Pro vice-chancellor Vidyashankar Shetty, Cambridge Educational Institutions chairman D K Mohan and others.
After the formal inauguration, Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said, “Youths have to focus on pursuing doctorate courses after their post-graduation. I did not know much about Bengaluru, but I realised its strength after I became minister for IT and BT”.
“Everyone know about the Silicon City. We do not have an IIT institution here, but IIT graduates from across the country come to Bengaluru as they know that they will find jobs to their liking here. They are getting better pay here than in the United States. The state government will encourage students to pursue doctoratal programmes. The IT/BT department is providing financial aid for 2,000 doctoral students. Educational institutions here are on par with those in the US”, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Public TV chairman H R Ranganath said, “I did not do a post-graduation course due to various reasons. I landed a job even before completing my graduation course and I wrote the exams even as I was working. I have always felt that I should have completed my post-graduation. Though much time has elapsed, even today I wish to complete post-graduation in a good journalism course.”
“Earlier, a Class 8 pass was enough for a police constable’s job. But now, about 60 per cent of graduates and 20-21 per cent of post-graduates are applying for the same job. Education is not in sync with industry needs. These days, more stress in on post-graduate degrees to get jobs. There may come a time when graduates may find it difficult to find jobs”, he noted.
“Karnataka is now one step ahead in PG and research. Our educational institutions are also imparting good education. The two-day expo is organised for the benefit of students to make good career course. Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan too has brought in lot of changes in the education sector”, he added.
A large number of people participated in the programme.BGS Institute MD Prakashnath Swamiji appreciating the initiative and said, “This programme is testimony to Ranganath’s captaincy. I feel disappointed with the lives of today’s students. Bringing everyone together is not an easy job. But this is one of the best programmes organised for students in order to help them shape their careers. It’s laudable that Public TV is taking such initiatives”.
Students getting information about courses.At the two-day expo, students will get career guidance and there will also be interactions and seminars by well-known educational institutions during the two-day event.
