Public TV journalist Arun C Badiger selected for Koppal Media Club annual award

BENGALURU: Public TV news anchor and journalist Arun C Badiger has been selected for the Koppal Media Club annual award in its first year. The club is introducing an annual award for journalists for the first time to honour who have made significant contributions to the media industry from the district.

The award will be presented on July 1 at the Balaji Function Hall in Koppal as part of the Press Day celebrations.

The award ceremony will be attended by several notable guests. Arun’s father Jabamalai, Principal of SFS (ICSE) School, Koppal, will grace the occasion, while Shivakumar Menasinakai, Assistant Editor of Samyukta Karnataka, will inaugurate the programme. Krupakar from Mysuru, international wildlife photographer, and Dr G Suresh, District Information Officer, will be present as chief guests.

Media Club president V K Ravindra will preside over the programme. The annual award is sponsored by Anvitha Women’s and Elders’ Welfare and Rural Development Organisation, Revanaki.

Apart from the award ceremony, several other events are planned, including a felicitation ceremony for Mehboob Maniyar, a newspaper distributor who has been working tirelessly despite facing many challenges. Journalists Basavaraj Karugol, Santosh Deshpande, and others will also be honoured.

Honorary president of the club, Prakash Kandakura, who won the second prize in the state-level photography competition organized by the Karnataka Media Academy; Prajavani photographer Bharat Kandakura, who won the third prize, Kannada Prabha senior photographer Nabhiraj Dastenavara, who won the consolation prize, and Prajavani district senior reporter Pramod Kulkarni, who won the National Integration Award, will be felicitated.

The function will also feature a Bharatanatyam performance by Kumari Krishi Hiregaudar and the launch of a play titled ‘Doddmane Devaru’, written by veteran journalist Basavaraj Binnala.
