BENGALURU: The BJP is already playing using the Hindutva card in the state, and now the government might be giving more political ammunition to the opposition with the controversy around the potential renaming of the Shivajinagar Metro Station.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently stated that if a proposal is submitted to change the name after Saint Mary, he would consider recommending it to the Union government. Following this, Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad is planning to submit a formal request to the government, suggesting that the station be renamed after Saint Mary.
If the state government recommends the name change, it might give the opposition another handle to criticize it, sparking further controversy. The renaming issue has already created a turmoil in state politics, with different groups having varying opinions on the matter.
The situation has raised questions about the government’s intentions and whether they are inadvertently providing ammunition to their opponents.
