BENGALURU: A proposal has been put up before the government to convert B-katha to A-katha. The proposal is to provide several facilities to B-katha holders, similar to A-katha holders. Property owners will have to pay a 5 per cent fee to convert their B-katha to A-katha and avail all facilities.
Currently, the distribution of B-katha has been halted in BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) jurisdiction. Now, BBMP has put forth a proposal to the government to convert all B-kathas to A-kathas. It remains to be seen if the government will approve BBMP’s proposal.
What does the proposal entail for B-katha holders to become A-katha holders, and what steps do property owners need to take?
1. Proposal to convert B-katha to A-katha and provide all facilities as per rules.
2. The conversion of B-katha to A-katha will be discussed in the next cabinet meeting.
3. To get all facilities like A-katha, property owners need to pay 5 pc of the guideline value as a fee.
4. For a 30×40-foot plot with a guideline value of Rs 5,000, the fee will be approximately Rs 3 lakh.
5. For B-katha properties, the private road in front of the plot or building should have a minimum width of 30 feet.
6. If B-katha properties are on a 25-foot road, the adjacent plots need to surrender 2.5 feet each to make it a 30-foot road.
7. Once the 30-foot road is fixed, it will be declared a public road as per the BBMP Act.
