CHIKKODI: Twenty eight passengers of a private bus had a lucky escape after it caught fire near Haragapura Gate in Hukkeri taluk on NH-5 early on Friday morning. The bus was on its way to Mumbai from Bengaluru.
It is suspected that an electrical short circuit caused the fire, but quick thinking by the driver saved lives. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel put out the fire. A case has been registered at the Sankeshwar police station.
