BENGALURU: The Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Archaka and Purohithas’ Parishat has strongly condemned the film ‘Langoti Man’, written and directed by Sanjotha Bhandaari.

Parishat excutive president Raghavendra Bhat opposed the title of the movie and took the film team into task. He said that making fun of a particular community is wrong and warned that if the film is not banned, they will protest in all theatres.

He said that, langoti and janivara (sacred thread) are symbols of Sanatana culture. “It is the dress code of Sanatana. They should not be mocked. Recently, a puja was performed at the film chamber for everyone’s well-being, but now they are mocking us. The film team is projecting us as jokers and an insult to our community”, Bhat said.

“The Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce and Censor Board should take this issue seriously. We have also brought it to the attention of the film chamber. We cannot tolerate such sort of comedy in films. The team should not use that title. We are warning the film team. If they release the film, the Parishat members have decided to protest  statewide”, he added.
