DAVANGERE: A priest at a Hanuman temple at Kattige village in Honnali taluk has invited criticism for his unusual style of performing puja by keeping his feet on the idol’s head. A video clip of the puja practice has now gone viral on social media and people are calling the priest arrogant.
Maheshwaraiah is the main priest at the Anjaneya temple in Kattige village. In the 27 second duration video , he can be seen with his feet on the idol while an assistant priest puts kunkum on the priest’s feet and then on the idol. Maheshwaraiah later pours water on his feet which runs on the idol.
The act of the priest has hurt the sentiments of many devotees.
