BENGALURU: The prices of firecrackers in the city have gone up by around 30-40 per cent this Deepavali season.
After two years of Covid-19 restrictions, the city is all set to celebrate Deepavali festival. However, this time, the prices of fire crackers have spiked because of the rise in cost of raw materials and transport charges. There is a significant rise in the prices of firecrackers when compared to last year.
“The prices of firecrackers are high this year. We are celebrating festivals after two years of Covid-19 restrictions. We want to celebrate the festival in a grand manner this year as Covid-19 norms are relaxed,” said Mamatha, who was buying firecrackers for her children at a stall.
“Business is picking up. Firecracker stalls have shifted to different places. We are providing around 60-70 per cent discount. Compared to last year, the prices have increased by around 30-40 per cent. The price difference is huge, but we are trying to make everyone happy by providing discounts,” said Janavi, a trader.
