BENGALURU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday evening chaired a two-hour meeting with party leaders and functionaries and set a one-month deadline for them to prepare the electoral battleground in the Old Mysuru region.
Amit Shah, who attended two events in Mandya districts earlier in the day, advised the leaders that the party should win the maximum number of seats in the Old Mysuru region on its own strength to come back to power and made it clear that there will not be any scope for any sort of alliance in the upcoming Assembly polls. He also warned against any sort of adjustment politics and signalled a big ‘no’ to any internal understanding or alliance.
Stressing that the Congress and the JD(S) are equal opponents, he said there should not be any soft corner for the JD(S) or internal understanding. In the event of any such adjustment, the party top brass will come to know, he cautioned.
Emphasising that the party is confident of its strategy working out in the Old Mysuru region, he told the leaders that only influential leaders may be admitted to the party and not those with bluster. He also warned them to be cautious about local level politics.
Shah also got separate reports from district unit presidents regarding each Assembly constituency. In the light of history-sheeters joining the party, he told the leaders to scrutinise the background of individuals before admitting them into the party to avoid any embarassment.
Sources said Amit Shah’s stern message has enthused the party cadre to work hard in the region.
