BELAGAVI, BALLARI: One case each of Covid-19 has been reported in Belagavi, Ballari and Vijayanagara districts. While one of them has recovered, one is in home isolation while the third, a pregnant woman, is in hospital.
The 25-year-old pregnant woman was admitted to a private hospital in Belagavi for treatment of pneumonia and her test results returned positive for Covid-19. District Health Officer Dr Eshwar Gadad said she had travelled to Pune in Maharashtra about a month ago.
“She is being treated in the ICU and is the first case in Belagavi district. There is no need for alarm, but people are advised to use masks in crowded places and use hand sanitiser. There is no testing at the state border, but adequate stocks of testing kits are available”, Dr Gadad said.
With the increasing Covid-19 cases, a separate ward is being set up at the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) from Monday. There is no cause for alarm and those with symptoms can undergo tests from Monday, doctors at BIMS said.
In Ballari, a 40-year-old man, who was diagnosed with Covid-19, has now fully recovered. In Hosapete, a 35-year-old man is recovering in home isolation, according to the DHO. Both have no travel history, he noted. The health authorities will make all necessary preparations and people with SARI/ILI symptoms will be tested, he added.
