BELAGAVI: In a surprise move, former Rajya Sabha member Dr Prabhakar Kore, who led the prestigious KLE Society for over 40 years, has withdrawn his nomination for the post of director on Thursday. Kore, who has been serving as the working president of KLE Society since 1984, submitted his nomination for the director post, but withdrew it on Thursday.

During his tenure, KLE Society expanded from 40 institutions to 240, with branches in Maharashtra, Delhi, and Dubai. The society is now set to have its first woman leader, with Kore’s daughter Preeti Kore being elected as one of the new directors.

Preeti Kore’s election is seen as a significant move, as she becomes the first woman to hold the post of working president of KLE Society. The society has a century-old history and is considered one of the largest education institutions in the country.

Fourteen directors, including Mahantesh Kaujalagi, Amita Kore, and Dr Vishwanath Patil, were elected unopposed to the KLE Society’s governing body. Preeti Kore’s election is expected to mark a new chapter in the society’s history.
