GADAG: A controversy has erupted in Gulaguli village of Gajendragad taluk after unidentified miscreants hung footwear around a portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram on a Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti board.
Locals expressed outrage over the incident and Gajendragad tahsildar Kiran Kumar faced criticism from the Dalit community for arriving late. The Dalits claimed that the incident occurred because the tahsildar had not held any awareness programmes about social equality and education.
The situation became tense and the Gajendragad police visited the scene to calm the situation. The Dalits demanded strict action against the perpetrators.
