BENGALURU: With voting under way for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, Bengaluru had recorded an average turnout of 42.9 per cent while the seats that witnessed polling registered 51.9 per cent voting till 3 pm.
Many also flew in from different parts of the world to cast their votes in Bengaluru and other parts of the state. Among them was Likitha, who is studying in the Philippines and cast her vote in Chitradurga.
The daughter of retired DDPI Revanasiddappa, Likitha, a medical student, said, “I had returned home to vote during last year’s Assembly election too. If my city, our people have to improve, we have to choose a good candidate”. She also appealed to all voters to exercise their franchise.
Divya Kamat flew in from the US to cast her vote in Bengaluru. In a post on X, she wrote, “Hello Bengaluru, Travelled 12,000 kms, leaving my toddler, for a 4-day visit to cast my vote. Bengaluru, rise up! Head to the booth and make your voice count!”
Dr Abdul Subhan, who was in Dubai on a business trip, returned to Kolar to exercise his franchise. Dr Subhan cast his vote at the Government Kannada Model Higher Primary School in Kolar.
Sonika, a software employee in London, returned to Kalenahalli village in Mandya taluk and cast her vote in the Lok Sabha election. Sonika spent about Rs 1.5 lakh for her travel.
