Police to seek fast-track trail in Renukaswamy murder case

BENGALURU: The police are preparing to file a petition for a fast-track court, following the Supreme Court’s recent cancellation of bail for the accused in the Renukaswamy murder case and also its directive to expedite the case.

The Supreme Court, which cancelled the bail of Darshan Pavithra Gowda and five others, had directed for the speedy disposal of the case.

The trial should be completed within 6 months, and the information should be provided to the Supreme Court, and the accused should be punished accordingly. Therefore, the police are making these preparations.

Top sources said that they are discussing with the law department and are likely to appeal to the government on Monday to set up a fast-track court.

The Supreme Court had recently set aside the Karnataka High Court’s bail order for seven accused, including Darshan (A2) and Pavithra Gowda (A1). As per the Supreme Court’s instructions, the police took the accused into custody the same day. Five of the accused underwent medical tests at the police station before being produced before the court and sent to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
