CHIKKAMAGALURU: A police patrol squad, which was responding to a emergency call to settle a dispute between a man and his estranged wife, were cornered late on Thursday night at Ammagarahalli village in Sidlaghatta taluk of Chikkaballapur district.

Shivananda of Ammagarahalli village and his wife Aishwarya of Nayanahalli village in Chintamani taluk are living separately due to a family dispute. The couple have a son. On Thursday, Aishwarya came to her husband’s house and created a ruckus, asking her husband to send their son with her. When her husband did not agree, she called the emergency number 112 and pleaded that there was a fight between her and her husband and sought justice.

A Hoysala police team came to Ammagarahalli late at night and the police took the child telling the parents to solve their dispute at the station. They said that until the dispute is settled, the child would be at the Santhvana Kendra. But, instead of taking the child to the centre, they handed over the child to Aishwarya’s mother Yashodamma at her house located on the main road in the village.

Upon receiving information, Shivananda’s family members expressed outrage at the Hoysala patrol squad and the entire village surrounded the police vehicle to stop them. They said that they would not leave until the child was brought back to them.
