Police sub-inspector’s wife sees him off with children for I-Day function, commits suicide

BALLARI: A police sub-inspector’s wife committed suicide after seeing off her husband and two children for the flag hoisting event on account of the 79th Independence Day, at Moka village in the district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Chaitra (36).

It is said that Chaitra was depressed after losing her brother and two sisters in a span of two years. The brother had ended his life about two months ago. While one of her sisters had died after suffering from low blood pressure, another sister too had committed suicide. Chaitra had also undergone psychiatric treatment in Shivamogga.

On Thursday evening, she reached Moka from her parental home at Malapanagudi and was apparently normal with her husband Kalinga and their two children. On Friday morning, after seeing them off for the flag hoisting, she ended her life by hanging. The body was later shifted to the VIMS hospital for post-mortem examination.

“Sub-inspector Kalinga’s wife was under depression and was under treatment. The couple have been married for seven years and have two children, a daughter and a son. She returned from her parental home on Thursday evening and hanged herself today morning. If her parents, give a complaint, we will take further actions, Police Superintendent Shobha Rani said.
