CHITRADURGA: A police sub-inspector has been booked for alleged rape and also under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after he allegedly had a physical relationship with her with the promise of marriage.
The case has been registered against PSI Gadilingappa at the Women’s Police Station in Chitradurga. The complaint was filed by a young woman from Bengaluru, who hails from Challakere taluk. She alleged that the police officer had misused her trust and sexually exploited her.

The victim had met the PSI through Instagram in April 2024, and he allegedly promised to marry her, leading her to engage in a physical relationship. When the PSI stopped responding to her calls and messages, the woman filed a complaint.
Gadilingappa has since gone missing, and his phone is switched off. Before going missing, he sent a threatening message to the victim on Instagram. The case has been registered under sections 64, 69 of the BNS and section 3(2) of the SC/ST Act.
