Police seize 9.5 kg of ambergris; accused are sent to judicial custody

MYSURU: In a swift operation, the HD Kote police and District CEN police seized 9.5 kg of the rare Ambergris from three Kerala-based people when they were trying to sell it near the HD Kote hand post.

There is huge demand for Ambergris in foreign countries and it is valued in crores for every kg . The operation was conducted under the guidance of district Superintendent Police Seema Latkar and Additional Superintendent Police Nandini.

As per the information, the accused had brought the Ambergris from Kochi in Kerala. Two of them hail from Kerala and are sailors. A team of Forest Department officials confirmed it as pure Ambergris, and the accused were taken into judicial custody after registering a case at HD Kote police station.
