BENGALURU: A police officer’s son allegedly assaulted a passerby, who was returning after offering prayers. The incident took place in HBR Layout.
The accused was under the influence of alcohol and shouting on the road. He also wrote some obscene word on a car. When the passerby asked him to stop his misbehaviour, he allegedly assaulted the person with beer bottles and an iron rod.
The victim, who had just finished his evening prayers, was taken to Ambedkar Hospital for treatment. It is alleged that the attacker used to smoke ganja in public places and create a ruckus on the road for no reason.
The police officer’s son is now facing charges of attempted murder. The victim’s wife alleged the policeman’s son was intoxicated and always smoking ganja.
“When my husband asked about what he had been scribbled on the car, he started assaulting my husband with a rod along with his 3-4 friends till my husband fell unconscious. We have already given a complaint to the police about drug abuse on the road and alcohol consumption, but no action has been taken so far. The attacker is said to be the younger son of a police sub-inspector. He uses their influence. If their children behave in such a way, then what can they teach other children in society? It does not matter to us if he is the son of an SI. We will lodge a complaint against him”, she said.
