Police inspector chosen for CM’s gold medal flees from house during Lokayukta raid

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police raided a police inspector attached to the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station in connection with a property issue. However, the inspector fled his house as soon as he got wind of the raid. Incidentally, police inspector Kumar had been selected for the Chief Minister’s gold medal in recognition of his servic.

The Lokayukta police also apprehended two police head constables when they were striking a deal at a hotel in Nagarbhavi. The arrested Umesh and Ananth were questioned from 5 pm on Tuesday till early Wednesday morning.

Head Constable Umesh threatened Chenne Gowda to take him to the police station.

Annapoorneshwari Nagar police inspector Kumar was allegedly harassing a contractor, Chenne Gowda, and his family members, by filing a false case on him and pressuring the contractor to sell his house worth Rs 4 crore for Rs 60 lakh to his relative.

Contractor Chenne Gowda’s house and the car in which some men arrived to inspect the place.

Kumar allegedly told Chenne Gowda that he would file a B report in the case if he agreed to sell the house. He would also allegedly harass the contractor’s wife who is a government employee. He had also sent some goons to threaten the family and Chenne Gowda had video-recorded it.

Head constable Umesh and the police inspector’s relative had even allegedly even entered Chenne Gowda’s house along with another person to inspect it on March 18 on the direction of the inspector. When Chenne Gowda questioned it, the head constable said he would take the contractor to the police station.
