Police detain two youths for throwing lit firecrackers on people

BENGALURU: The city police detained two youths for throwing lit firecrackers on the people walking on the road and for attacking a man who questioned them about it, at Maruti Nagar near Jnana Bharathi on Tuesday night.

Mahadevaswamy was attacked by a group of local youth for questioning them why they were throwing lit firecrackers on senior citizens, women and children. The incident was captured on CCTV camera.

“I was standing with my son and they were bursting firecrackers and were throwing them on the people walking on the road. I questioned them about the same. Three of them attacked me with a plastic tray. There were around fifteen people, and one of them threatened to kill me if I lodged a police complaint,”said Mahadevaswamy.

A case has been registered at Jnana Bharathi police station and the police have detained two youths. Further investigation is on.
