Police crack down on illegal entry to Bharachukki Falls, set up barridaces on roads

A police officer gets a couple of youths to do sit-ups for trying to enter Bharachukki Falls in violation of orders.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A day after Public TV reported about tourists taking forest tracks to picnic spots like Bharachukki Falls, the police swung into action and set up barricades along the roads and are monitoring vehicles.

Barricades have now been put up and vehicles are monitored.

Some youths, who got caught sneaking towards Bharachukki through forest tracks were made to do sit-ups by the police and were warned against any such misadventure.

Visitors had been taking forest tracks to reach Bharachukki Falls.

The district administration has barred tourist entry to picnic spots in the district, such as Hogenakkal, Bharachukki Falls, Wesley Bridge and other places, in view of the rising water level in the Cauvery river.

However, tourists were taking forest tracks in the Boodagattadoddi forest area in Kollegal taluk to reach Bharachukki Falls. They were even reaching the bottom of the waterfall unmindful of dangers.
