BENGALURU: The state government is replacing the traditional slouch hat worn by police constables and head constables with new peak caps. The new caps are being distributed to police personnel starting today.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara distributed the caps at an event in Vidhana Soudha’s Banquet Hall. The caps will then be distributed to constables and head constables across various districts.

The decision to introduce the new caps was made at the Annual Conference of Senior Police Officers in June. The government has approved the distribution of thin peak caps similar to those worn by Telangana police.

The tender was finalised at a Specification Committee meeting held on August 7. Now the new caps are ready and the peak caps will be distributed to the police in the city in the first phase.
