DAVANAGERE: A police constable died after he was run over by a lorry during vehicle checks at the Hebbal toll plaza near here on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Ramappa Pujar (27) who was attached to the District Armed Reserve (DAR).
During the vehicle checks, Ramappa Pujar flagged down a lorry, but the driver did not stop and ran over the constable. The body was later shifted to the SS Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Deputy SP Sharanabasaveshwara and other staff visited the hospital where the autopsy was being conducted. A case has been registered at the Rural police station and the police are on the lookout for the killer lorry and its driver.
