CHAMARAJANAGAR: The police allegedly beat up a man accusing him to be a thief. The man belonging to Konanapalya village in Nanjangudu taluk was taken to the police station on charges of stealing gold.

“I was taken to the police station and accused of having stolen gold. Six policemen hit me. I had just finished work then. The police targeted me without full details of the case. I want justice. I was forced to lie saying that I had gold in the house to avoid being hit by the police. Later, the police admitted me to the CIMS hospital and threatened me not to reveal anything about the beating,” says Dilip, the victim.

Shekhar, Dilip’s brother

“A neighbour called me and informed me about Dilip’s arrest. We inquired in every police station and asked them to register our complaint, but they declined. When I reached the house, the police had come there to search for gold. Again I went to the police station along with others. I was asked to come in and the police showed the burglar’s photo and it was not Dilip. My brother was assaulted very badly and threatened to be quiet while they took him for a medical test. We want justice” says Dilip’s brother Shekhar.

Dilip has also made serious allegations against the Chamarajanagar Rural police who accused him of being a thief.
