BENGALURU: After a video allegedly showing a man under the influence of a ‘zombie drug’ in Bengaluru went viral, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police launched an investigation. The CCB has arrested a person who uploaded the video on Instagram. He has since tendered an apology.
The video, reportedly shot in Bagaluru, shows a person standing motionless, leading to speculation about the use of Zombie drug. The CCB formed a special team to investigate the claims and identified the person in the video. The police said the person was under the influence of alcohol and had taken medication for some lifestyle disease.

So, what is zombie drug? It’s a combination of three substances — heroin, fentanyl and xylazine (a veterinary sedative). Consuming this mixture can lead to muscle damage and skin lesions; Respiratory problems; Decreased heart rate; Coma or even death
The CCB has arrested Hemanth who uploaded the video on Instagram. Hemanth has apologised, claiming he didn’t know it was Zombie Drug and thought it was a prank. He has been charged with spreading false information and is currently in custody.
The police have warned against spreading misinformation and have issued notices to over 25 people, including actor Duniya Vijay and retired police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, who shared the video. City police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has stated that those who spread false information will face action.
