BENGALURU: The police have arrested five youths, who were popping wheelies while brandishing machetes in Ramamurthy Nagar and near KR Puram flyover at midnight during the Shab-e-Barat festival.
On the night of January 13, more than 25 people gathered near the Noor Masjid in KG Halli at midnight on the occasion of the Shab-e-Barat. At this time, Arafat, Sahil and others planned to perform stunts on their two-wheelers, popping wheelies for social media reels.
The youths were riding triples on the main road of KG Halli. From there, they went to Hoskote toll and returned to KG Halli by the same route. The gang, they performed reckless stunts, popping wheelies while brandishing machetes on busy roads at night.
Despite tight police security in the eastern section on the occasion of the festival, the group performed dangerous stunts. Union Minister Kumaraswamy had posted about this on his Facebook page. As soon as he posted, it sparked criticism against the Bengaluru Police, with many questioning their effectiveness in maintaining law and order.
The police have since taken the incident seriously and are investigating the matter. Five accused have been arrested, and the police commissioner has instructed the police to take the matter seriously and to investigate further. The police are also searching for others who were involved in the incident. Cases have been registered at the DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations.
