PM Modi soaks in nature’s beauty, takes safari ride at Bandipur tiger reserve

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Bandipur on Sunday, spent the morning taking a safari ride at Bandipur Tiger Reserve and soaked  in nature’s beauty.

Modi arrived at the Melukamanahalli helipad from Mysuru and received by Forest Department officials including Muruli and Subramanya, ADGP Alok Kumar, district Deputy Commissioner D S Ramesh and others.

“Spent the morning at the scenic Bandipur Tiger Reserve and got a glimpse of India’s wildlife, natural beauty and diversity,” PM Narendra Modi tweeted. Modi reached Bandipur at 7:35 am and paid his respects at the Forest martyrs’ memorial. He is in Mysuru to celebrate the golden jubilee of Tiger Project.

A team of AIIMS doctors from Delhi, SP Padmani Sahu, district officials, a team of doctors from the district Health Department, Forest Department officials and staff were present. The PM’s entourage included nine vehicles including an ambulance.

Modi reached the Kekkanahalla checkpost at 9.50 am by a kaccha road in the forest. From there, he went 5 km on the highway by vehicle and later visited Theppakadu elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu where he fed sugarcane to the elephants.

Modi left for Mysuru from the Nilgiris helipad after meeting Bomman and Bellie of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ fame at Asia’s first elephant camp at Theppakadu.
